One frontline military volunteer counts the cost of recent gains, as US President Joe Biden warns that world is risking 'nuclear Armageddon'.
The terrible cost of dead friends is a price that must be paid if Ukraine is to liberate itself from Russia, according to frontline military volunteer Seva Koshel.
This week the Ukrainian military liberated more towns and villages in regions now declared sovereign territory by Russia.But, in the latest edition of the Sky News Ukraine War Diaries podcast, Koshel confronts the cost of these gains following the loss of another frontline comrade who was part of recent advances.
"I was talking to my friend who is now an officer in the army," he explains."And he was quite disappointed because a guy from his unit, who was under his command, has just been killed. "And my friend must go with his body to his home village for his funeral and it's very tough for him, especially [because] it's [his] first time. On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that Kyiv's forces had recaptured more than 500 square kilometres and dozens of settlements in Kherson.
