Universities have joined a security scheme to protect its staff and research from Chinese spies - as the head of MI5 and former Glasgow University student, Ken McCallum, warns of growing threats.
Universities across Scotland, including Glasgow University, have recently joined a security scheme that protects staff and research from Chinese spies.
He spoke alongside the head of intelligence services in Canada, the US, New Zealand and Australia for the first time as part of the Five Eyes security alliance last week, reports the Sunday Mail. The Trusted Research programme aims to protect university staff and their work from being misused by foreign powers. It involves thorough security checks on international academics working with UK ones and gives advice on how to protect data from thieves.
