In the past decade the charity has helped 8,210 animals in Nottinghamshire find new loving homes
If someone is in trouble we know to call the police and an officer could be there in minutes, but for animals this is a completely different story. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals only has the equivalent of around ten full-time officers covering both Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
She stated that "we are trying to get to animals as fast as we can. We don’t want there to be too much of a gap between the call coming in and that animal getting seen." She added that she can be called to a job to help "anything from spiders to cows" and her first job involved the rescue of a baby seal. Regarding the heartbreaking statistics the RSPCA face, she explained that "most of the time it's ignorance rather than blatant cruelty."
