The website explains that genital itching and burning can indicate a yeast infection in both men and women, and frequent yeast infections can be a sign of type 2 diabetes. In individuals with diabetes, elevated blood glucose levels create an environment conducive to the growth of naturally occurring yeast and weaken the body's immune response to fight infections. Additionally, diabetes can lead to higher glucose content in urine, another favorable location for yeast proliferation. This symptom could easily be mistaken for a sexually transmitted infection (STI), which can also cause itching in the genital area.
