Leanne Lucas tried to protect children from the knife wielding attacker
An update has been issued on the condition of the hero yoga teacher who protected children during the attack in Southport last month. Leanne Lucas was one of the teachers and organisers of the Taylor Swift-themed dance class that took place at The Hart Space on Hart Street, Southport , on Monday, July 29. Police rushed to the dance class shortly before midday after a knifeman entered the class and began stabbing children and adults.

It comes after reports that Leanne had 'bravely tried to protect' the children who were targeted by the attacker. She reportedly planned the two-hour dance and yoga session to coincide with the school holidays, and taught the class alongside Heidi Barlow. Heidi was also injured in the attack, but not as seriously as Ms Lucas, reports suggest.
