Philadelphia's district attorney has asked a state judge to shut down Elon Musk's controversial $1m giveaways to registered voters.Filing a lawsuit against Mr Musk and his pro-Trump group, America PAC, Democrat district attorney Larry Krasner said: 'The Philadelphia district attorney is charged with protecting the public from public nuisances and unfair trade practices, including illegal lotteries.
This civil action neither precludes nor requires potential future action under Pennsylvania criminal law.'The Philadelphia DA will litigate the factual allegations and legal arguments that underlie today’s filing on the record and in court.'Mr Musk, the Space X, Tesla and X owner, has been handing out cheques as part of an effort to persuade people to register to vote - and crucially to vote early.
