Surveyed students are frustrated with their schools' abilities to prepare them for college and careers, according to researchers.
U.S. middle and high school students are giving their schools a grade of "B-" for the second year in a row, according to a poll released Tuesday.more than 2,000 students in grades 5-12 at public, private and charter schools. Each student was asked what letter grade they would give their school when judged "overall."
Zach Hrynowski, a senior education researcher for Gallup, said two sore points for students identified by researchers were a lack of excitement for learning and poor college and career readiness. Sechita McNair, an Atlanta public school mom of four, echoed the sentiments to CITC. She said she finds the lack of college and career preparation in her children's schools "alarming," adding she has repeatedly brought those concerns to school officials.
The mom told CITC she has considered pulling her younger children out of public school and electing to homeschool them if she doesn't see improvements.
