VACAVILLE — Matthew Bowen, a current Vacaville police officer and former Concord police officer, was hit and killed during a traffic stop Thursday morning in Vacaville, police said.
Vacaville police Officer Matthew Bowen was struck and killed during a traffic stop at Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive in Vacaville on July 11, 2024. He previously served with the Concord Police Department. Bowen was initiating a traffic stop and was struck by a passing vehicle, the Vacaville Police Department said in a news release. The driver was taken into custody.Bowen joined the Vacaville Police Department on June 13, 2013. He previously served as a police officer in Concord.
“He has served with the highest level of dedication and honor, and his loss is deeply felt by the department, the city and the community,” the Police Department said in the news release.
