BBC Radio 2 host Vernon Kay recalled 'a nightmare' period with his and Tess Daly's eldest daughter, in a candid insight into their early parentings ways.
Vernon Kay has opened up about his early parenting days raising two daughters; Phoebe, 20, and Amber, 15, with his wife Tess Daly. In response to a BBC Radio 2 listener mentioning that they had two children under two at 51, Vernon offered his "thoughts and prayers" before reflecting on his own parenting journey.
The 50-year-old presenter recounted how after their first child was difficult to get to sleep, they altered their parenting style with Amber. He said: "You know with your second child... first child, you sterilise everything, dummy falls on the floor, you then put it in the steriliser for another three and a half hours to make sure it's clean.Vernon went on to say they left Amber to cry herself to sleep at times, which he believes worked out well in the end.
"With Amber, we completely ignored her," he admitted. "She's fed, she's got a clean nappy on, leave her, she'll be alright and she was.
Upon learning that a cat sanctuary had successfully raised funds to rescue lions from Ukraine, he quipped: "I would've took one of them lions!". Mimicking a conversation with his wife, he joked: "'Tess, we are rescuing a lion from Ukraine'. 'Oh, where we going to put it?'."
