When it comes to hit fantasy TV shows, it's fair to say that HBO's Game of Thrones and the more recent House of the Dragon are among the most popular of all time.
The video was posted by Canadian author and internet personality Xiran Jay Zhao, and was captioned: "Taking a video of a nice loch in Scotland and George R.R. Martin is casually in the view."We reached out to George RR Martin to confirm that it was him, and he replied: " Yes, that's me. My assistants and a group of my friends took a cruise of Loch Lomond with my wife and I during the recent World Science Fiction Convention in Glasgow.
They admitted that all was not as it seemed, saying: "Scotland was very pretty! I didn't just happen to spot George though, he actually invited me onto the boat along with his family and friends for a private sailing." In February 2024 the Hugo awards made headlines when leaked emails suggested that several authors were excluded from last year's shortlists after they were flagged as potentially sensitive in China.They continued: "George very kindly reached out to us to invite us to Scotland for the Alfies, basically a consolation prize."
