It is not clear in the court record when Raffoul wrote the letter he began as a complaint by Maurice Raffoul, but he began it with: “The character of a man is measured by how he treats the downtrodden, the defenseless, the weak, the down on his luck, the lonely, when nobody is looking.” Gaspard and Hargett own Lux Spa in Lafayette, Louisiana and say Raffoul became a client in 2015. They say they forged a friendship with him saying he was business oriented and claimed he traveled back and forth to help run a family business.
