As we look ahead to 2025, the Daily Record has selected an extra special spot for our latest Walk of the Week — offering spectacular views and being just a short walk from a'cosy' pub. While the weather this New Year period is far from ideal, it is still worth getting out for an hour or two for some fresh air as long as conditions aren't too bad.

As we look ahead to 2025, the Daily Record has chosen an extra special spot for our latest Each week, we shine a light on one Scottish hike or beauty spot and this time it is Kilconquhar Loch in Fife. Situated around an hour out of Edinburgh, the small and shallow loch is a great spot for a walk, offering tranquil views out over the water, and can be reached in around 40 minutes on foot from the nearby town of Elie and Earlsferry. Kilconquhar Loch is also a great place to head if you are a bird lover, especially if you have an interest in birds. The loch is home to swans, moor hens, geese, and much more. So stormy, we also made sure to choose a hike that was in walking distance of a nice pub. The friendly Kinneuchar Inn is mere minutes away from the loch on foot, meaning you can easily escape the wind and cold. The inn serves up both yummy homemade dishes and plenty of refreshing drinks. It is a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike, and was even named among the Read on for some photos that show why Kilconquhar Loch is the perfect destination for a New Year's walk.
