Queensland Premier Steven Miles and LNP leader David Crisafulli have traded barbs over their plans for an Olympic stadium as debate heats up ahead of Brisbane hosting the 2032 event. Debate is heating up between Queensland Premier Steven Miles and the LNP 's David Crisafulli as the two leaders remain at loggerheads over the main stadium for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. The option of constructing a new stadium was recommended instead of the initial $2.
Mr Miles on Tuesday hit back at the LNP leader as he responded to a reader question from the Courier Mail on what he believes is the"best option for an Olympic stadium" in Brisbane. "A good option is one where the community can see that there’s a legacy play, not where one person has made a decision to do something temporarily in the wrong location that will be ripped down," Mr Crisafulli told the Courier Mail.
"And part of that involves getting all levels of government back around the table, not making it a vanity project about a couple of people in the state government, making it about Queenslanders." He repeatedly rejected building a new stadium, saying the focus was providing"generational infrastructure" in the $7.1 billion funding envelope.
"Is he going to close East Brisbane State School? When is it he going to close it? Where's he going to send the students to?" Mr Miles asked.
