Police have warned swimmers to be careful after two women died in a ‘tragic accident’ at a beach in Aberdeen.A passer-by raised the alarm but it was too late and they were pronounced dead at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.Chief Inspector Martin Mackay said: ‘Our seas can be extremely unforgiving, conditions can change rapidly and I can’t stress enough the dangers of entering the water at any time of the day or night when you are not suitably prepared.
’A police search team at work on Aberdeen beach where two people were pulled from sea The RNLI’s Davie Orr said the high tide made it difficult to get out of the water.He added: ‘So, it was high tide, a slight easterly breeze, and also being dark as well caused a bit of problem when you’re searching for someone.’Police have launched an investigation but said there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.The women are yet to be formally identified.
