British Gas, OVO, EDF, EON Next and Octopus customers have been told they can slash energy bills by more than £200 with a 10-minute trick
Customers of British Gas , OVO, EDF , EON Next and Octopus have been informed that they could reduce their energy bills by over £200 with a simple 10-minute trick. Amid the ongoing Cost of Living crisis, households have been advised that a quick freezer hack could lead to significant annual savings.
They revealed: "One family found that their frosted-up freezer was adding between 60 and 70p a day to their bills, this adds up to an average £237 a year. Upon defrosting it, their energy usage returned to normal." The group also cautioned households to remove limescale from kettles and other kitchen appliances, reports Birmingham Live.
The experts stated: "Around 90% of the energy used during a wash cycle is used just to heat the water to the selected temperature. By running colder washes and reducing temperatures from 40 degrees to 20 degrees you could save up to 60% of the energy used in every wash and still clean your clothes effectively. ".
