Some important dates to be aware of
If you receive benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions, there is a chance your payment dates will change around the Christmas and New Year period later this month. This year Christmas Day falls on a Wednesday and Boxing Day falls on a Thursday. These are both bank holidays, as is New Year's Day on January 1. This could mean some changes to when your benefits will arrive.
If you are in receipt of tax credits, here are the amended dates for payments this month: So what about DWP payments? The Department for Work and Pensions is yet to provide its December payments schedule but it is expected to follow a similar path to the one set out by HMRC. This would mean that benefits that would usually arrive on the 25, 26 or 27 of the month will instead land in people's accounts on December 24. Payments expected on January 1 could arrive on New Year's Eve.
