Bars and restaurants in Majorca have been forced to introduce new rules
British holidaymakers heading to the popular destination of Majorca, in Spain, are set to encounter "extreme" new rules at dining spots due to a critical staff shortage in the hospitality sector. Bars and restaurants on the island are increasingly turning to self-service payment systems, prompting a word of caution to European tourists.
Some eateries are introducing QR code payments directly at tables, while others are enabling patrons to order via QR codes or pay at specific tills. Nonetheless, these adjustments have not been universally welcomed, reports the Express. Juanmi Ferrer also described what he refers to as the Italian model, where in Italy, particularly in casual dining establishments, 85% of restaurants manage orders and payments upfront at the cashier before customers dine. "The owner of the establishment is usually at the cash register," he said.
