The cafe has been described by its customers as a 'hidden gem'
A Greater Manchester cafe that has become a 'lifeline' for the community it serves, has announced its closure. Staff at a cafe in Oldham have said they are 'heartbroken' to close the doors after 18 months.
"The entire team are absolutely heartbroken as we absolutely loved Dunwood Park. You welcomed us and made us feel at home and we can’t thank you enough. Many of the comments came from people who had benefitted directly from the support and services offered from the cafe. One wrote: "We are going to miss you all so much we are absolutely gutted you are closing thank you all for everything you did for us serving us with delicious meals and lovely drinks you were all amazing thank you all so much."
Adding: "Have you considered some kind of community crowdfunding? Look at all of these people who want you to be able to stay open, I'm sure people would donate to help keep a community asset running." Chrissie explained that after doing some sums, the cost of an extension could cost as much as £100,000. "The heart of the park has gone, and while we don't want to be defeatist, we cannot see a way forward unless we get that money to stay open."
