With summer finally here and another heatwave potentially on course for the next couple of weeks, heading out for a picnic is finally possible. But you have to make sure you've got your cool-bag stocked full of picky bits and sweet treats, especially a crowd pleaser sausage roll. Not all sausage rolls are made equal, and with all supermarkets producing their own version, it can be hard to know which one stands out.
And the descriptions of them all are pretty much the same too - of 'lightly seasoned pork', either 'encased' or 'wrapped' in puff pastry. 'While Aldi and Asda describe theirs as 'golden puff pastry', at the Co-op it's 'flaky', while Tesco's is both 'golden' and 'flaky' and Morrisons' is simply 'light'. Sainsbury's and Lidl are a little less descriptive, promising just 'puff pastry'.
