A new alert was issued by the Met Office early this morning
The fresh 'yellow' alert was issued by the weather forecaster shortly after 4am today . Two separate weather warnings are now in force in NI.
The forcecaster said: "A band of showers, heavy at times, will move eastwards during the morning give a few hours of rain, sleet and snow before clearing the east of County Down early this afternoon. With regards to the existing alert for snow and ice, the Met Office said: "Cold air spreading southwards across the UK, following a band of rain, sleet and snow, will bring frequent snow showers to northern, western, and eastern Scotland, as well as parts of Northern Ireland.
