JK Pubs agree to maintain contact with residents association in Stranmillis over Jeggy Nettle application
A trio of Belfast’s most popular bars are to receive entertainment licences enabling them to open until 2am.
The current licence for the Jeggy Nettle is Monday to Saturday 11:30am to 1am the following morning, and Sunday 12:30pm to 12 midnight. The applications were announced in local newspapers, and no objections were submitted to the council. The PSNI and Fire and Rescue Service made no objections to the applications. No noise complaints have been received by the council in the last 12 months concerning any of the properties.
She added: “At the moment, in terms of noise abatement we already have a policy in place to ensure we manage noise coming from the venue. We have a small beer garden to the front of the , with one external speaker into that area which gets turned off at 11pm. “In relation to the Stranmillis area, being on Landseer Street, a lot of the accommodation there is heavily student, and we don’t have a lot of residents living in the street adjoining us. The buildings directly across from the bar are all Queen’s University classrooms, and all the buildings adjoining the Jeggy Nettle are either vacant or are offices.
“We ensure when staff leave at the weekends at between 1.30 and 2am they encourage any customers hanging around to move on. To date we have had a really good track record with the police and fire brigade.”
