West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the appointment of Rene Hake as their new manager. Hake, former assistant coach at Manchester United, has agreed to a deal to replace Carlos Corberan, who recently joined Valencia.

The Baggies have been looking for a new manager since Corberan left for La Liga strugglers Valencia on 24 December. He led Utrecht to a sixth-place Eredivisie finish in the 2020-21 campaign but couldn’t achieve European qualifying with the Dutch side in a post-season playoff. West Brom sit sixth in the Championship with 40 points as they target a second consecutive playoff campaign. The Baggies are next in action against Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Saturday (11 January) before returning to league action against Stoke next week (18 January)
