Members backed the plans last week, despite concerns being raised over flooding at the site opposite The Rock.
Aldi’s plans for a new store in Dumbarton have been given the go-ahead by councillors – despite flooding concerns.
Aldi formally submitted plans for the new £4.7million store last November, with the local authority estimating that it could bring a boost of more than £1.1m to the local economy. They added: “This is because the proposed development is expected to put people or property at risk of flooding, which is contrary to the duties set out under the Flood Risk Management act 2009.”
“We have had a long held aspiration for a store in Dumbarton as it is currently one of the largest towns in Scotland without an Aldi.“We have an extended store in Clydebank to pace with how busy we are, and our store in Alexandria is currently undergoing its second extension - again due to the demand from customers.
