It follows a redesign of the West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership service last year.

An unannounced inspection was carried out in March, with the West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership services being downgraded from ‘adequate’ to ‘weak’.It comes following a radical redesign of homecare services, which HSCP chiefs believe will “strengthen our service and ensure we have a model of care that is fit for purpose, robust and meets the growing needs of our residents”.

However earlier this year we told the story of a paraplegic Renton man who says he was left in his own faeces following changes to the system. The Care Inspectorate’s report, published after an visit between March 25 and March 27 of this year, said that the service had failed to meet three of its four key requirements - ensuring that care plans are reflective of the support clients need, reviewing these at least every six months and ensuring that the workforce are appropriately trained.

The report concludes: “The service must achieve all components of each requirement to remove the risk of encouragements being placed on the service, therefore wider HSCP resources may require to be mobilised to supporting this priority area.” “We are very grateful to our dedicated carers who, despite the challenges, have continued to deliver vital services to some of our most vulnerable residents.
