A motion on how much work volunteers actually do was brought before full council on Wednesday by councillor Fiona Hennebry.
Thousands of volunteers have been praised for the “tremendous work” they carry out within their local communities across West Dunbartonshire every year.
Of the 9000 adults giving up their time to volunteer, 48% of volunteers gave up to 2 hours per week, 30% gave 2-4 hours a week and 16% committed to between 4-8 hours per week. “This council recognises the fantastic contribution that all our volunteers make and it’s right – particularly at this time of year - that we take time to thank them.”
