Alex Davies, chief executive officer and founder of Wealth Club, says: “The change in Isa rules nearly a decade ago was a real turning point for investors. Before then if you wanted to avoid IHT, you had to move your money out of an Isa. Eshan Osman, 70, a retired finance manager who lives in north London with his wife, is keen to maximise tax perks offered on investments where he can.He has been investing in Aim Isas for several years to help minimise a potential inheritance tax liability on his estate, which will eventually be passed to his wife, son and daughter.
“I like the fact that these experienced managers select the stocks on my behalf,” he said. “Though I did ask for one stock to be sold out of my portfolio – a brewery. As a Muslim I don’t want to hold alcohol-related stocks. A benefit of these portfolios is that there is flexibility to sell out any stocks you don’t want to hold.”
