She and her partner Andy had dreams of having children and buying a hotel in his native Scotland. The couple, who lived in Preston, also had their hearts set on a motorhome, which they planned to tour the country with their "travel baby".
An inquest held in November heard how, not long after Sarah was born, she was diagnosed with a condition which resulted in her having a mechanical heart valve fitted. Sarah's mum Jillian was, understandably protective of her daughter, but Sarah thrived and grew up to become a beautiful and confident young woman.
At the time Sarah Read went to A&E at the Royal Preston Hospital in April 2022 having suffered a stroke, she was told that the potentially life-saving treatment she needed was only available between 9am and 5pm. "I want Sarah to have meant something," Jillian, from Burnley, said. "Women with a complex history need to be made aware of the risks and doctors need to ensure that they're very closely monitoring them."
