A white Christmas is hoped for by many across the UK as snow is expected to fall on December 25, with one weather expert predicting the most likely area to see snow
One part the UK could be set for a white Christmas , with snow predicted to fall on the big day. Weather experts at WXCHARTS are forecasting snowfall from midday on Christmas Day until midnight on 28 December in the north-west of Scotland.
Boxing Day is set to see Scotland blanketed in snow, with up to 1cm falling every hour. Rainfall in the Midlands and northern England could range from 0.2mm to 3mm per hour, while Wales could see hourly downpours of up to 3mm. The Met Office has revealed that the last white Christmas in the UK was recorded in 2023, when 11% of its stations reported snowfall, although no significant accumulation was noted. The Express reports that the last widespread white Christmas occurred in 2010, a phenomenon deemed "extremely unusual", with snow covering the ground at 83% of stations and sleet or flurries observed at 19% of locations, reports Birmingham Live.
