NEW BROCKTON-Who will send out the New Brockton garbage bills remains undecided after a special called meeting of the town council and water and sewer board Thursday evening.
People are also reading… In addition to serving the town of New Brockton, the New Brockton Water Works and Sewer Department customer base in Coffee County includes the Damascus, Ino, Bethany and Goodman communities, the town of Kinston, portions of Elba, and four military TAC fields. The town of New Brockton is the only entity for which the water and sewer board bills for garbage.
Marsh said the water board had years ago agreed to do the billing for the town’s garbage customers as a courtesy. “Because you were all in the same building, as a courtesy to the town and to help the town citizens, the board agreed to help with the collection of garbage fees and has done so for many years,” Marsh said, noting that that the water board was providing the billing service without charge to the town.
