The shift to a green colour scheme aligns WhatsApp more closely with Meta’s branding strategy, fostering consistency across its portfolio of apps, which includesInitially, the app displayed a vibrant green logo against a white background, but now, the entire interface incorporates varying shades of green, signalling a departure from its previous design.
One obvious change is the addition of capital letters to its status bar. Now, “online” and “typing” have been changed to “Online” and “Typing”, small changes that have provoked a big response from many users. These updates are designed to address user feedback, with Meta hoping this will help WhatsApp remain the preferred messaging app choice for millions worldwide.“WhatsApp turning green isn’t sitting right with me,” lamented one X user, formerly known as Twitter, while another wrote: “I’ve never seen an uglier shade of green than whatever is going on WhatsApp”.
