The Seahawks ceiling is uncertain, but the floor has been raised.
How could the Seattle Seahawks possibly get any worse? Vegas seems to think they will, as do a scattering of media personalities that got all excited about the Arizona Cardinals drafting 142 players in April. The current Over/Under betting line for the Seahawks is 7.5 wins. They’re guaranteeing Seattle will be worse than 2023, you are just meant to choose by how much. Even covert national fans bailed on Seattle this Spring.
The team was already near or the actual worst in the league at 3rd down defense, 1st downs allowed, run defense, and red zone defense. And they still finished 9-8. Having now brought in the best defensive mind that was available this offseason, who may end up proving to be one of the best defensive coaches period, those three marks seem unlikely to be repeated. There’s nowhere to go but up with the defense, and chances are more likely that they’ll go way up than merely pass a team or two.
