Former managing director Gordon Brown says the firm could look very different if a buyer is found.

"In the middle of the road you're liable to get knocked down, and sadly, that's what's happened today," he said. "They seem to have moved upmarket from where they were, and that's had a really big impact on the way the customer shopped at it. "It's going to be a hard road to get back to where they were... it's not going to be a short-term solution."
