) - A window washer was rescued by Mobile Fire Rescue Department after being stuck on the side of the RSA Tower.
According to MFRD Public Information Officer Jeff Haller, they received a call at 12:51 p.m. reporting that a man was stuck on the side of the RSA Tower. Upon arrival, they learned that the man was washing windows when he said his descender got stuck. He was not able to move upward or downward, which led him and a co-worker to calling 911.
Personnel from MFRD used a rope system on a small roof of the 35th floor. A rescuer was then lowered down to a roof on the 33rd floor, allowing him to reach the victim and attach his harness to the MFRD rope system.Hundreds of people began lining the streets surrounding the building, keeping a close eye on the individual and holding their breaths as they watched crews rescue him.“It’s scary” Irvine said.
