Latest Nottingham Forest news as we reflect on a busy summer transfer window for Steve Cooper's Reds
After a quiet start to the transfer window, it turned out to be a summer of change at Nottingham Forest.
“We want to grow as a club,” the Welshman has said. “We’ve got to really think now how we want the team to look.” Now the window has closed, the Forest boss has got to be happy with the squad he has in place. There is no shortage of strength in depth, and owner Evangelos Marinakis has certainly backed him in the transfer market. Bringing in Ibrahim Sangare, in particular, was a real statement of intent.
The Forest midfield:Strengthening in the centre of the pitch was a key priority for the club during the transfer window. There was a recognition that it was an area the team had struggled in last term. Horvath has been back-up for Matt Turner in the Reds’ opening games, but even that place will be under threat following the arrival of Odysseas Vlachodimos. And with Wayne Hennessey nearing full fitness, it could be that either the Welshman or Horvath misses out on the 25-man squad.
Cooper has been keen to tread carefully with Biancone, mindful of the serious nature of his injury. His versatility is undoubtedly useful, but he has been linked with a move to Olympiacos.
