highlighted some of the issues that non-binary people face because we are not recognised under the law. These range from issues accessing primary healthcare to the lack of specialist support services if we are sexually or domestically abused. By that point, in 2021, there had already been a number of House of Commons petitions calling for us to be legally recognised.non-binary people in the UK, and yet we still lack vital legal recognition.

I’m widely believed to be the first publicly recognised non-binary barrister. But right now, non-binary people have no guarantee of legal protection from discrimination at work.
