The force arrested eight male suspects between the ages of 16 and 23 on suspicion of violent disorder.
Students have spoken out after a ‘scary’ and ‘intense’ night of people reportedly shooting fireworks at each other in Radford. A number of 999 calls were placed around 11pm on Sunday, November 5, reporting the incident in Midland Way, Radford .The incident took place on Midland Way, which has a number of student accommodation blocks on the site. ‘Scared’ students were watching from their dorm rooms as people were setting off fireworks throughout the night.
The student was watching from another dorm and couldn’t return to her own as she was "too scared" to leave. She continued: "I couldn’t leave and go back to my home. I had to wait. I left at 1.30am."Another student who wished not to be named said: “Obviously I saw a lot of fireworks. There were a lot of students around JD Gym, Dominos, Subway. It was a very hectic evening and early morning. There was a lot of police as well.
“It was remarkable that no injuries were reported. A series of arrests were made as we took tough action to bring the matter under control."
