Due to delays, and the ship remaining grounded in Belfast, Phenix voiced concerns about the ship not docking in Miami as she had expected, among other issues, in a WhatsApp group chat with fellow passengers.
A 68-year-old woman from Florida who sold all her belongings for the trip of a lifetime on the Villa Vie Odyssey's three-year maiden voyage, found herself banned from the cruise after WhatsApp comments caused an uproar.
Kathy Villalba, the chief operating officer, delivered the blow, citing numerous grievances lodged by residents troubled by Phenix's ongoing discontent and negative attitude that harmed community spirit, as reported by The Telegraph: In the wake of bankruptcy proceedings by the Life at Sea residential ship scheme leaving her $30,000 out of pocket, Phenix had been looking forward to embarking on a three-year cruise adventure. She had already made an initial deposit for the journey and was contemplating spending between $120,000to $350,000 on a cabin or opting for the Endless 7Horizon programme, which offers a lifetime of travel on board starting from $300,000 .
CEO Mike Petterson revealed to CNN that the problem began when the company requesting approval certificates asked for documents on previous documents which were not provided at the time. He further stated that other work had not been completed and that certificate providers would not let the Villa Vie sail without necessary repairs and changes.
