Abbie Humphries was just three hours old when she was snatched from her cot by a woman posing as a nurse, sparking a nationwide manhunt and a 16-day search for the newborn

A woman who was infamously snatched from Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre as a newborn baby has tragically died.

She went on to excel as a swimmer, work as a flight attendant and in IT, and marry her teenage love, Karl Sundgren. Karl announced on Facebook that his wife had succumbed to her illness on Sunday at the age of 30: "Our beautiful Abbie peacefully passed away yesterday, surrounded by loved ones. She fought so hard with so much strength and grace for over four years and can finally rest. We will be celebrating her life on Saturday 14 December from 2pm at the Sundgren house in Whenuapai.

The drama 'The Secrets She Keeps', which drew inspiration from Abbie's ordeal, aired in 2020. It was only at the age of 26 that Abbie grasped the full gravity of her own abduction. Kelley admitted to the abduction of Abbie and was sentenced to three years probation and treatment for a severe personality disorder. Reports suggested she feigned pregnancy to stop her boyfriend from leaving her.Yet, this kidnapping is still considered one of the most brazen in British history, triggering a national police operation. Kelley had posed as a nurse to audaciously walk out of the hospital with baby Abbie.
