Authorities say a woman made up the story about two men burning her legs with an unknown liquid at a Summit County Metro Park on Sunday.
CLEVELAND, Ohio –
“The person who made the report admitted the injuries were self-inflicted, and the report she made was not accurate,” the park system said in a Facebook post Thursday.“We understand that this incident has caused significant fear for our park visitors,” the park system said in a statement. “We hope that the conclusion and outcome of this case will reassure those who were wary of visiting the trails, as there is no public threat resulting from this false claim.
Lindsay Smith, a spokeswoman for the park system, said rangers are meeting with prosecutors in Barberton Municipal Court to discuss whether to file charges in the case.
