A woman who claims to have been sexually abused by a priest at a children’s home more than 50 years ago has won her battle to sue the charity.
In a 99-page judgment last week at the Personal Injury Court in Edinburgh, he ordered a date to be set for a hearing. The woman, now in her 60s and referred to as GD in court, claims corporal punishment, violence and beatings were daily occurrences by the sisters, describing one nun, referred to as Sister Y, as being particularly violent.
She also alleges that the nuns permitted the sexual abuse to happen and did nothing to prevent the assaults by Sister Y. The woman told how she has suffered nightmares and flashbacks since her time in Nazareth House, which is now closed.
