A loophole in the Australia gun laws will be addressed in response to the Wieambilla police shooting.

Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus will meet state and territory police ministers today to begin the process to set up a national firearms register.The register would allow information to be shared across jurisdictions.

The new register would not impede on the current database, the Australian Firearms Information Network.
