Work on new £100m Blackpool office building underway as part of £350m regeneration scheme
Work on a new £100m Blackpool office building is currently underway as part of £350m regeneration scheme. It is hoped that the investment will transform the heart of the town centre.
The new building has been designed by renowned architects, Make, to BREEAM “Excellent” standard, which means it will operate on low energy and promote both sustainable development and wellbeing. The site, which will include a new town centre square with cycle and pedestrian routes, is within walking distance of the new tram interchange at Blackpool North Station which is nearing completion.
While some of the parking has been taken away due to the construction of the new building, there will still be a limited number of spaces on East Topping Street car park. Cllr Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council, added: “It is fantastic to see this development start on site and is a great start to the New Year. Throughout the pandemic we were determined to push on with our regeneration of Blackpool and it is really exciting to see so much of our vision for the future coming to fruition.
