DAVID MUNDEE It was a busy week of activity just south of Wildcat Stadium at Bill Bacon Field on the Enterprise High School campus this past week.Rather, it was bulldozers moving dirt for the school’s newly approved Indoor Multi-Purpose Facility, part of a $14.8 million project that includes the addition of a building adjacent to the current football fieldhouse for a visiting team locker room plus installation of new LED lights for the football/soccer stadium.
Inside will be a 90-yard artificial turf field, allowing for practices, especially in bad weather, for football, band and ROTC as well as conditioning and other work athletic teams can do inside. Small towers will be put in to allow band directors and coaches to get views of practices from a higher perspective. Camera stands are also in the plans to allow for videoing practices.
“It will include a new state of the art weight room as we will move that out there,” Trawick said. “It will also have a new training room with a cold tub where we can rehab athletes there. Adjacent to the fieldhouse will be a new building for a visiting team locker room. Currently, visiting teams have to leave the field on the southwest part of the stadium, walk around the back of the fieldhouse then up through crowds at the southeast gate area, and up to the campus gym to change or have halftime meetings, roughly a 5-minute walk.
As construction begins, the football team, which practiced in the area where the new multi-purpose field will be located, will hold practices this season inside Wildcat Stadium, which has an artificial turf. The team could also utilize an open 100-yard grass field between the south end of the construction site and Wildcat Way Drive near the tennis courts to practice.
