Todd Viney, the Kangaroos’ general manager of football, said on Friday morning that Thomas had not completed his respect and responsibility education satisfactorily, and that he had more work to do.
“Thomas will be unavailable to play for the North Melbourne Football Club - the VFL or AFL,” Viney said at Melbourne airport, before North Melbourne flew out to play Fremantle on Saturday night.after the failed to satisfactorily meet standards of the education program he has been completing with the club.
Viney said Thomas being stood down from the club was not related to fresh allegations that he sent inappropriate text messages to women. North Melbourne were made aware of those allegations on Tuesday afternoon. “Tarryn still has some work to do in that situation,” he said. “This is a serious concern for the game.“The main part we want to get right is respect and responsibility to women.”
Thomas is due to face the Magistrates Court next week on a charge of “threatening to distribute an intimate image” and was undergoing a respect and responsibility education program following other allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women.More to come
