Wrexham are reportedly in a race to sign Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford, who is seeking more playing time. The potential move could be the biggest in the club's history.
Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney could make the biggest signing in the club's history just months after receiving a huge cash injection. The duo welcomed new investors in October following the Welsh side's huge success. Reports suggest the new owners are preparing to make their biggest signing ever.
Wrexham are battling Italian side Genoa to secure the signing of Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford, after the Englishman was linked with a move away from the Championship club in 2025. Sources claim the 31-year-old has spoken to Leeds manager Daniel Farke about his lack of minutes in recent games, indicating a potential move in upcoming transfer windows. Bamford is yet to start a match for Leeds, with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph currently ahead of him. Although he has come off the bench eight times, his minutes are likely to decrease if Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League. With his contract expiring in 2026, Leeds might sell him in 2025 to avoid losing him for free. However, Bamford's current wages are a significant obstacle. He reportedly earns around £40,000 per week, four times the amount Wrexham's top earners receive. Unless Wrexham earn their third successive promotion or Bamford agrees to a pay cut, Reynolds and McElhenney may need to rely on their new investors to facilitate the move
