William Durnion, 33, had been holding the rescue dog which belonged to another man when it attacked Margaret Marshall. Police were called by neighbours of Durnion over concerns about the animal.
A man whose XL Bully was destroyed after it bit a woman has been ordered to pay her £500 and banned from owning the dogs for two years.
But as Durnion, 32, tried to avoid officers in January he encountered Marshall who was bitten by Nipsy. The prosecutor said: "When police officers asked the accused to stop and control the dog, he became verbally abusive towards them and became hostile. The fiscal added: "He was then spoken to about the dog and confirmed its name was Nipsy and that it was a rescue dog."
