We had Christmas dinner at Lancashire's worst reviewed Wetherspoons and it was as festive as a trip to A&E
I've always been a fan of Wetherspoons' food. Some say it's cheap and cheerful but I've always thought it deserves more credit than that.
The pizza topped with chicken, stuffing, bacon and Brie sounded positively stomach-churning so I chose the traditional Christmas dinner of turkey served with roasted veggies, mash, cranberry sauce, pigs in blankets, gravy and stuffing. This came to £10.69 with a soft drink. Alongside four tiny pigs in blankets was a mountain of peas which the girls both said were not properly cooked. There was nothing else. Abigail never had a big appetite as a toddler but even when she was two she would have still been hungry after this.
My meal was underwhelming. The gravy was so sweet I swear it belongs on the dessert menu and the mash reminded me of the stuff you would get out of a packet and served at school with an ice cream scoop. The only thing I remotely enjoyed was the pigs in blankets but the rest was about as festive as a trip to A&E.
