A yellow weather warning is in place for snow in parts of Somerset, causing some disruption.
Snow fell on parts of Somerset especially around higher areas like ExmoorThe Met Office has issued a yellow warning and warned of blizzard-like conditions.
The A303 past IIminster has been described by some drivers in the area as a 'white curtain'. Although higher areas are more at risk forecasters say low lying areas are also being affected. Somerset Council issued a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol, which includes sheltering rough sleepers as temperatures plummet.Somerset Travel said on X that there were reports of tricky conditions around the A30 Crewkerne and Yeovil areas.
Rosie Hather from the homeless charity Arc in Taunton, said they are hoping to get people into accommodation "as quickly as possible"."We're cold putting our heating on indoors but if you're forced to sleep outside it's hideous."Ilminster was one of the places where people woke up to a covering of snowHe said the snow came "barrelling out of nowhere" and has settled "rather dramatically".
