Freezing fog, frost, and wintry showers are expected to continue across Yorkshire this weekend as temperatures remain low.

More cold temperatures, frost and wintry showers lie ahead for Yorkshire this weekend, according to the Met Office. Today will see another cold day for Yorkshire, with freezing fog expected to develop in some areas. There may also be some sunny spells today, but wintry showers are expected to develop along the coast. Freezing fog will then return into the evening, with a maximum temperature of 4C expected all day.

The Met Office said: 'Another cold day with isolated freezing fog patches to start, followed by sunny spells and isolated coastal wintry showers. Freezing fog patches redeveloping overnight. Maximum temperature 4 °C.' For Saturday, the day will be cold with frost widespread and temperatures sitting just above freezing all day. More freezing fog is also possible. Temperatures will then recover on Sunday, with cloudy and breezy weather developing at the start of next week. The Met Office added: 'Cold Saturday, with widespread frost and temperatures just above freezing by day. Freezing fog patches possible. Temperatures gradually recovering through Sunday as cloudy and breezy conditions develop into next week' Over a longer term, the Met Office predicts, between January 14 and January 23, more high pressure with settled conditions throughout the country. There will be a lot of cloud and some windier conditions later on. Temperatures are expected to be average in the North. The Met Office said: 'High pressure is likely to lie close to or over the southern UK throughout this period, with generally settled conditions prevailing for many, if not all of the country. Cloud amounts will be variable and often large, with a chance of some fog developing under clearer spells, especially in the south where winds will be lighter, which could be slow to clear. Frontal systems may affect the northwest of the UK, bringing some rain and windier conditions here, especially to western Scotland. Temperatures are likely to be generally around or a little above average in the north and west, although southern and eastern parts may be colder at times, especially where overnight fog and frost is slow to clear.
