Vin Baker ran 130 miles along the Leeds canal while his three children cheered him on
Sheffield property developer Vin Baker, 39, ran from Liverpool to Leeds , on Saturday, August 24. He set off at 6am and was finished 4.40am on the Sunday, bringing his total time to 22 hours and 40 minutes.
Despite being in a lot of pain by that point, he knew he couldn’t stop at risk of being overtaken himself so late in the race and just had to ‘bring it home’.The race along the canal towpath, known as ‘The Trans-Pennine Run’, begins in Old Hall Street, in Liverpool, and finishes at Office Locks, in Leeds. It is split into nine legs with eight checkpoints in between the start and finish.
Vin said: “It is bonkers. You just have to have the mindset of pushing through the tough times and enjoying the good times. You’ve just got to roll with them. Vin was coached by his older brother Joe Baker who is also an endurance athlete. Joe holds the Endure 24 course records at both Leeds and Reading. Vin has run four marathons, 10 ultras and previously ran a 105-mile race along the Leeds canal last year.
